Two familiar faces will return to the 450cc gate at St. Louis this Saturday, both riding Hondas, and both having been sidelined from the Monster Energy Supercross Series for several weeks due to injuries.

Mere hours after it was made official that fellow contender Davi Millsaps suffered an injury while testing for the upcoming 2014 Monster Energy Supercross season, Team Honda Muscle Milk issued a press release stating that Trey Canard will miss the opening rounds of the championship after breaking his arm over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Canard underwent successful surgery Tuesday and will immediately begin rehabilitation in hopes of getting back into competition ASAP.

“Of course we are disappointed that Trey will miss the opening rounds of the 2014 SX season,” said Honda Racing Director Ray Conway in the release. “He has been going really fast at all our pre-season test sessions. We all know how hard Trey will work to get back as soon as he can, and the whole team can’t wait for his return.”

American Honda has just released a video featuring the Team Honda Muscle Milk duo of Trey Canard and Justin Barcia. With a rich racing history and a prestigious list of previous Honda champions, the American Honda race team is a place riders dream of being, and that’s especially true of Canard and Barcia.

Canard, who returned to racing this year after a serious crash in 2012, has continued to have a noteworthy comeback, landing on the podium three times during the 2013 Supercross season and posting respectable results in Motocross. During his first year in the premier class, Barcia has shaken the competition by grabbing two victories and three additional podium finishes during the 2013 Supercross season. He has also appeared on the podium at two of the first three 2013 Motocross races.
