F1: Rosberg to wear World Cup-themed helmet for home race in Germany


Nico Rosberg, World Championship leader and German World Cup soccer fan, will be wearing a special helmet at the Hockenheim circuit this weekend.

Rosberg, who was born in Germany but grew up in Monaco, considers the German Grand Prix his “second home grand prix” of the season and will be wearing a German-World-Cup-team-themed helmet in celebration of the nation’s World Cup victory last Sunday.

Germany not Rosberg’s home race, says Hamilton

Nico Rosberg has hit back at his teammate Lewis Hamilton, after the Briton said next weekend’s German Grand Prix is “not really his home race.”

F1 now heads from Hamilton’s home turf at Silverstone to , where German-born Rosberg might expect similar levels of local support.

Not so, Hamilton told reporters, as Rosberg has a Finnish father and he grew up and still lives in Monaco.

Christian Horner says that the battle between Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso at Silverstone was a fair one, despite some controversy about how much of the run-off area they were using.

Both drivers complained on team radio about their rival exceeding track limits, something that the FIA had brought up before the race. Vettel eventually got past, and pulled away to claim fifth.
