Team Penske and Verizon Wireless announced Monday they have increased their partnership both on and off the track.

The multi-year agreement will see expanded use of Verizon’s wireless services across the Penske organization, with the goal of improved communication, as well as additional sponsorship opportunities within the team.

“Verizon has been a terrific partner for Team Penske and we are excited to continue to grow our relationship with them in 2014 and beyond,” said team owner . “Verizon’s technology and marketing activation has meant so much to Team Penske and the sport of racing and we look forward to building on this special partnership in the future.”

In addition to its full-season sponsorship of ’s No. 12 Team Penske IndyCar, Verizon Wireless will serve as the primary sponsor for ’s No. 2 for “at least eight” events this season.

Verizon Wireless will also serve as the primary sponsor of all three Team Penske cars – Power, Montoya and ’s No. 3 – in the inaugural on May 10.

As is often the case these days, Team Penske used social media to help make the announcement.
