Cameron Takes Final Rolex Pole at Lime Rock

Dane Cameron will go down in the history books as the final pole-sitter in history, after taking his Riley-BMW to the top spot for today’s Rolex Sports Car Series finale at Lime Rock Park (1:30 p.m. Live!, FOX Sports 2).

Cameron reeled off a best lap of 48.795 seconds to score his second pole position of the season. He edged out the No. 5 Action Express Racing Corvette DP of Christian Fittipaldi by 0.409 seconds in an action-packed DP qualifying session that saw two stoppages for incidents.

Saturday’s race at Park (Live! FOX Sports 2, 1:30 p.m. ET) will mark the end of an era, as the 14th and final set of champions will be crowned in the series finale of the Rolex Sports Car Series.

IMSA, ACO Announce LMP2, Daytona Prototype Cars Eligible Through 2016

Following a four-hour steering committee meeting at Circuit of The Americas between officials from the International Motor Sports Association () and the Automobile Club l’Ouest (ACO), both organizations today confirmed a collaborative decision that cars eligible for the Prototype class in the and the LM P2 category internationally will remain so through the conclusion of the 2016 season.

Set to debut next year, the Prototype class in the IMSA-sanctioned TUDOR United SportsCar Championship will include cars currently competing in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series’ DP class, as well as P2 cars and the new DeltaWing DWC13 from the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón (ALMS). IMSA officials are in the final stages of computer simulations and wind-tunnel testing of the three different types of prototype race cars. On-track testing will soon begin for balance of performance.

TRG ASTON MARTIN DEBUTS — After months of delays, TRG’s Aston Martin Vantage debuts in this weekend’s Continental Tire Sports Car Festival at (5 p.m. ET, Live! FOX Sports 1). AMR factory driver , fresh off the FIA WEC Six Hours of Sao Paulo, has joined Brandon Davis, a winner in last month’s Pirelli World Challenge round, at the wheel of GT3-based machine.

Davis qualified the V12-powered beast in 10th, a respectable effort considering the number of changes made to the car, including heavily revised aero and a switch to the class-mandated Bosch ECU system.
