“I congratulate all partners involved in the production of the fully-electric SRT_01E car – it is a fantastic achievement. The innovative technology deployed follows the best environmental practices, highlighting the potential of the Formula E Championship to spark a revolution in the development of new electromobility systems, not just for motorsport but also for everyday use. This new championship builds on the FIA’s traditional role as a leading promoter of innovation, technology and performance in the automotive sector.”
The FIA Formula E Championship racing series is slated to begin their inaugural season in September of 2014. In addition, FOX Sports announced in August that a multi-media deal has been reached to bring this innovative new series to the public:
“With a global approach to acquiring knowledge and fast-tracking technology through the world of international racing competition, the FIA Formula E Championship is much more than just another weekend at the track…it makes racing an integral part of solving one of the world’s most daunting challenges and we are thrilled to be a part of that process.”
