Pedrosa Tops Morning Warm-Up As Rain Looms

Team’s , winner in dramatic fashion last year, topped the Warm-Up with his best lap time of 1’56.515, which was just three thousandths of a second faster than championship-leading teammate . The top five was rounded out by Factory Racing duo and , plus pole-sitter Cal Crutchlow of Monster Tech3.

The talk of the morning was the ever-increasing chance that rain will affect this afternoon’s 22-lap race. Dark skies surrounded the circuit, encouraging riders to practice bike changes in the pit lane in case they are faced with a Flag-to-Flag situation during the Grand Prix; incidentally, the likes of Crutchlow and Marquez are yet to experience such a scenario since making their ™ debuts.

Lorenzo Demands Yamaha Upgrade

world champion is piling the pressure on to upgrade his factory M1 with a seamless shift gearbox, as he mounts an increasingly desperate defense of his title.

Lorenzo wants the gearbox fitted to his bike for the remaining eight races of the season, starting with the this Sunday (Aug. 25).

He has vowed to back his demand by declaring he can win both the Czech and British GPs, which run back-to-back over the next two weeks.

Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Spies Talk Recovery

The Red Bull Grand Prix got underway today as a star-studded press conference saw proceedings kick-off at the infamous Brickyard. Repsol Team’s championship leading rookie was joined by teammate , Factory Racing duo and , Monster Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow, LCR Honda ’s Stefan Bradl, as well as Ignite Pramac Racing’s , who makes his long-awaited return from injury.

Crutchlow, whose switch to the Ducati Team for 2014 was announced during the summer break, was the center of attention for the gathered press. He commented: “After Laguna we decided that we were going to stay in America and take a break here, but it wasn’t too much of a break. We had a busy first week and then we obviously released that I’ll be riding for Ducati next year. Really pleased and it was nice to get that done, we can settle for the rest of the year now and see how that goes. Yes there are pros and cons for everything. The most difficult thing was making the phone call to Herve. It was quite an emotional phone call. It was a difficult decision to make but I am pleased to secure my future.”

After a three week break, the World Championship restarts this weekend at the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.

riders, and are currently first and second respectively in the Championship standings and arrive in America refreshed and ready to resume the fight. For Dani in particular, this Summer break has been gratefully received. Dani suffered a big crash in Germany in mid-July and the doctors would not allow him to race. However, he rode to a courageous 5th place in the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix in Laguna Seca just before the break. Having had three weeks to rest and recuperate, Dani is now almost back to 100% and will be hoping to return to the podium at a circuit where he’s won twice in MotoGP class (2012 and 2010).

Teammate Marc, inspired after his back-to-back GP wins in Germany and Laguna Seca, will be looking for another fine performance in Indianapolis where he has been victorious the past two seasons in the Moto2 class.
