Helio Castroneves celebrated in his signature style, climbing a fence, in the same place where he did it for the first time many years ago.

Castroneves’ crew joined him above the track in front of roaring fans and it was fitting because his behind-the-scenes teammates helped him have his way with the competition.

Today IndyCar is hosting its annual preseason media day at the Amway Center in Orlando as preparations continue for the 2014 IndyCar Series season which kicks off March 30 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

IndyCar: Kanaan Enjoys First Test With Ganassi Team At Sebring

Less than 48 hours after unveiling his bas relief image on the Borg-Warner Trophy at , Tony Kanaan started his on-the-job orientation with his new employer, , during a team test at Sebring International Raceway.

Despite joining a new team, there was familiarity for the Brazilian in his first on-track session. Longtime engineer, Eric Cowdin was on the pit stand as were drivers he considers friends. Kanaan was even familiar with the twin turbocharged engine that was affixed to the No. 8 NTT DATA car for the first time.

IndyCar: Ganassi Signs Kanaan, Announces Switch To Chevy

Chip Ganassi Racing added another Indianapolis 500 winner to its team Friday and dropped Honda for in an engine manufacturer switch that seemed to be in the works since the start of the season.

Both moves could have a ripple effect throughout the paddock.

KV Racing must now replace reigning Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan, who turned down an offer to return to the team that rescued him just before the start of the 2011 season when Kanaan didn’t have a ride. The KV extension didn’t require the Brazilian to bring any sponsorship money to the team, but Kanaan chose instead to join , and at Ganassi, which next year will field cars for five of the last seven Indy 500 winners.
