Nico Rosberg has hit back at his teammate Lewis Hamilton, after the Briton said next weekend’s German Grand Prix is “not really his home race.”

F1 now heads from Hamilton’s home turf at Silverstone to Hockenheim, where German-born Rosberg might expect similar levels of local support.

Not so, Hamilton told reporters, as Rosberg has a Finnish father and he grew up and still lives in Monaco.

Valtteri Bottas proved to be one of the stars of the British Grand Prix as he converted 14th on the grid into second place at the flag.

The Williams driver actually qualified 17th, but gained three places from penalties before a sensational first lap saw him jump up to ninth before the red flag.

Thereafter, he made some great passing moves as he worked his way up the order with his late and sole pit stop proving just the ticket. The result came on the heels of his third-place effort in Austria.

Lewis Hamilton won a crash-hit British Grand Prix on Sunday to cut Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg’s lead in the drivers’ championship from 29 points to just four after the German had his first non-finish of the season.

Hamilton, the 2008 champion, started sixth on the grid. The British driver leapt to fourth on the opening lap before it was red-flagged, and suspended for an hour, following a crash involving 2007 champion Kimi Raikkonen of Ferrari and Felipe Massa of Williams.

Three penalties mean that the back half of the British GP grid looks very different with some drivers gaining as many as three places from their original qualifying positions.

Esteban Gutierrez was carrying a 10-place penalty from Austria, which was applied before Max Chilton received 5-places for a gearbox change. Gutierrez trumps Pastor Maldonado, who was excluded and sent to the back of the grid, but the Venezuelan in turn is allowed to start ahead of the Caterhams, which technically did not qualifying but are allowed to start.

With all of the movement, we’ve put together a final look at what the grid will look like for Sunday’s race at Silverstone.

Two-time champion Fernando Alonso questioned his Ferrari team’s tactics and decision-making strategy Saturday after he was eliminated early from qualifying for the British Grand Prix.

The Spaniard had failed to make the cut to Q2 for the first time since the 2010 Monaco Grand Prix.

“We know there are two Williams and two Ferraris out of Q1, so there’s definitely something wrong compared to the other teams because, when both cars are out in a session like this, it’s because you were in the wrong moment with the wrong tire,” Alonso said.
