MotoGP: Yamaha riders concerned about future tire supplier

The decision by to withdraw as the official tire supplier is “bad news” for the sport according to seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi.

promoters Dorna have called a tender for tire supply for 2016 onwards and it is expected that Michelin, Pirelli and Dunlop will express interest in the deal.

MotoGP: Tire wear a hot topic entering this weekend’s Argentine GP

Argentina is the next stop for the 2014 ™ World Championship as the revamped hosts round three of the season.

The 4.8km circuit is characterized by numerous fast, long-radius corners that are expected to result in one of the highest average speeds of the year. High speeds, hard braking zones and high camber angles of some corners results in this circuit being one of the more demanding for tires.

After the second staging of the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas at the state-of-the-art track in , have reviewed the weekend from a tire perspective, after another busy event for the premier class tire supplier.

Track conditions for the race at the Circuit of The Americas were dry, although much cooler than the practice and qualifying sessions. A peak track temperature of just 33°C was recorded during the 21-lap race. Masao Azuma, Chief Engineer, Bridgestone Motorsport Tire Development Department, reviewed the weekend, as follows:

MotoGP: Bridgestone Expects Rapid Race Pace In Season Opener

The general race pace in next weekend’s season-opening Commercial Bank Grand Prix of is set to exceed that of 2013, according to tire supplier following the last preseason test at the Losail International Circuit.

At the final gathering of the preseason, it was NGM Forward Racing’s Aleix Espargaro who topped the timesheets to conclude an impressive testing period on the Forward Yamaha. However, Bridgestone was pleased with the pace overall.

After one of the most exciting campaigns in recent years, Motorsport Manager Hiroshi Yamada looks back on the highlights from this season and gives a brief glimpse of the world’s largest tire manufacturer’s approach to 2014.

Yamada-san, how would you summarize the 2013 MotoGP season?

Overall, I think this season has been fantastic – one of the best ever for the series. All the riders were performing at a very high level and to witness Marc (Marquez) break record after record and Jorge (Lorenzo) defend his title with so much passion, I think it brought many new fans to MotoGP.
