Jorge Lorenzo opened talks with Yamaha for a new contract at Mugello this past weekend and has dismissed rumors that he wants the power to decide his teammate for 2015.

While Lorenzo claims that his “priority” is to remain at Yamaha and become a life-time MotoGP rider with the team, he continues to be linked to rumors of big money Ducati offer.

It was the closest of his six sensational wins this season and one in which¬†Marc Marquez admitted he “nearly crashed” at every corner.

That’s what happens when you engage fierce rival Jorge Lorenzo in a titanic contest for supremacy at Mugello for the Italian Grand Prix.

Lorenzo’s dramatic return to his best form forced Marquez to new heights as he won his sixth consecutive race of the season by just 0.121s after 23 absorbing laps.

Ducati has rolled out a couple of 215 mph red rocket ships for Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix, their home race at Mugello.

But despite the gains from recent engine development a home victory is appears out of the reach of Desmosedici riders Cal Cructhlow and Andrea Dovizioso.

Two giants of world motorsport came together at the Mugello Circuit when Marc Marquez and Fernando Alonso got together on the eve of Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix.

The two Spanish stars met in Marquez’s Repsol Honda garage after he claimed pole position for the 23 lap race, his sixth consecutive pole this season.

Marquez, 21 and the youngest ever MotoGP World Champion, later revealed that one day he would like to try an F1 car but not in a race.

Jorge Lorenzo has dismissed claims that his form slump is because he is not relaxed and enjoying his riding, especially in the shadow of record-breaking fellow Spaniard Marc Marquez.

After finishing a lackluster sixth in Sunday’s French GP, both Marquez and seven-time champion Valentino Rossi reckoned that a lack of enjoyment and too much importance on winning were key issues.

Not surprisingly Lorenzo disagreed.
