The first season of the Asian Le Mans Series wrapped up last weekend at , which saw Team Total claim the overall victory and the LMP2 championship.

While faced with low car counts in the opening rounds, the season finale in Malaysia delivered a respectable 14-car field, with more entries expected for next year, which will also see a an expansion to five rounds.

FOX Sports SPEED caught up with Managing Director Mark Thomas to get his thoughts on the year and what’s in the works for 2014 and beyond.

OAK Racing Team TOTAL claimed the 2013 Asian Le Mans Series Championship following a decisive victory in Sunday’s season-ending Three Hours of .

Ho-Ping Tung took the Michelin-shod No. 24 Morgan-Judd to a 1-minute and 19-second victory over the title-contending No. 18 Morgan-Nissan, which was unable to match the French-entered car on the track or in the pits.

The ex-A1 GP star passed pole-sitter Tsugio Matsuda with just over an hour to go and stretched his lead during the final round of pit stops when the OAK crew opted to take only new right side tires.

The Asian Le Mans Series will expand to a five-race schedule, while also seeing a change in its class structure for next year, series officials announced Saturday.

The 2014 calendar will make return visits to its existing venues at Inje (Korea), Fuji (Japan), Zhuhai (China) and (Malaysia), while adding a new round at the Shanghai International Circuit.

KCMG denied a clean sweep of pole positions in the Asian Le Mans Series Saturday, as Tsugio Matsuda took his Morgan-Nissan to the top spot for tomorrow’s season-ending Three Hours of Sepang.

The Japanese Super GT ace reeled off a best lap of 1:57.579 late in the 30-minute combined Prototype/GT qualifying session, edging out the No. 24 OAK Racing Morgan-Judd of Ho-Pin Tung by 0.285 seconds.
