Jorge Lorenzo claimed his first podium of the season at the Grand Prix Red Bull de la Republica Argentina and acknowledged that it was a sweet feeling to step onto the rostrum again. His Movistar Yamaha MotoGP colleague Valentino Rossi crossed the finish line behind him in fourth.

Lorenzo led for 16 laps after making one of his trademark starts, putting in some impressive early lap times as rivals Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa got caught up in the crowd in the opening stages.

The MotoGP contest at the Termas de Rio Hondo track saw Stefan Bradl record another solid top-five result, despite the German taking a heavy bash when he crashed on Saturday afternoon in qualifying.

The LCR Honda team rallied around their premier class star after that crash, which left Bradl ninth on the grid for Sunday’s race at the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina.

An enthralling MotoGP race at the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina saw Marc Marquez clinch his third win of the year, ahead of Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo in the top three.

As the race at Termas de Rio Hondo got underway Marquez got caught up in the crowd on Lap 1 but played it patiently, picking off his opponents to get into second – eventually hunting down early leader Lorenzo, with his winning move coming 8 laps from the end.

Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo scored his first front row start of the season Saturday, edging out Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa to qualify second for the MotoGP Argentine Grand Prix.

The two-time World Champion opted for a softer rear tire late in the 15-minute session, which helped him jump up to second with a 1:38.425. However, Lorenzo was no match for pole-winner Marc Marquez. The defending World Champion led all four practice sessions before capturing the top spot in qualifying with a 1:37.683.

Repsol Honda’s MotoGP World Champion Marc Marquez continued his dominance of the Gran Premio Red Bull de la Republica Argentina weekend to take pole, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa.

Marquez appears to be enjoying every moment of the first World Championship visit to the new Termas de Rio Hondo track and he set a superb 1:37.683s late in the 15-minute showdown to maintain his perfect 2014 pole record.
