The end result at Road America was fantastic for the whole team, really. Both for manufacturer and driver points.

It wasn’t really from being fastest on track – It was all about good strategy and fantastic work from the crew in the pits that did an absolutely brilliant second pit stop. That moved us from 7th and 8th to 1st and 3rd, which became 1-2 shortly after.

During the pit stop, our refueling time was much shorter because we didn’t have to take a full tank of gas like most of the other guys. But that all played into the strategy we chose earlier.

Three seemed to be the magic number for our weekend at Road America after qualifying 3rd, finishing 3rd and taking our 3rd podium placing from six races this year in the ALMS. Luckily there was one important number one amongst all those threes!

For my team mate Tommy Milner and me, our finishing place gave us enough points to bump us back up into the lead of the GT Drivers’ points’ classification ahead of Dirk Muller and our team mates, Jan and Antonio, who were also on the podium.

After having had a nice sunny, breezy week the rain which started coming down a couple of hours before the start of the race was a bit of a surprise and not a welcome one. It was still raining a bit as Tommy set out in our No.4 Corvette C6.R and there was a lot of spray and jostling for position as the 33-strong field set off.

Just one year after debuting its new GT class contender, SRT Motorsports celebrated a historic first win for the Viper GTS-R in a heated battle at Road America.

Gambling on fuel following a race-ending yellow, Marc Goossens took the Riley Technologies-built entry across the line ahead of the pair of Corvette C6.Rs for the GT class victory in Sunday’s Orion Energy Systems 245.

Goossens and co-driver Dominik Farnbacher, along with the pole-sitting No. 93 Viper of Jonathan Bomarito, enjoyed time out front in the 2-hour and 45-minute race, which started under wet conditions and ended under the yellow flag following a late-race accident.

“It was a nail biter,” Farnbacher said. “I think we made it to the finish line with the last drop of fuel. If you look at all those faces [SRT team], they’re almost crying, everybody’s crying. It’s so emotional for us. I’m just speechless at the moment.”

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón GT battle between SRT Motorsports and Corvette Racing has carried over from Canada to Elkhart Lake, Wis.

One race after a tight battle for the GT class win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park – a race that the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6 ZR1 of Jan Magnussen and Oliver Gavin won by 0.267 seconds – SRT Motorsports and Jonathan Bomarito responded with the GT pole for Sunday’s Orion Energy Systems 245 on Saturday morning at Road America.
